Reflections of Motherhood

Hey there and welcome to Nummies!

If you’re reading this, there is a good chance you just watched Reflections of Motherhood (if you haven’t seen it yet, you can find it here)

I want to thank you for watching and clicking to find out more about us. Nummies started with a mom (that’s me! Alison) who couldn’t find what she was looking for and it grew from there. Our beautiful bras are modern and chic, combining fit, function and style for today’s nursing moms. If you want to learn more about Nummies products, retailers or contact info, please visit us here www.nummies.com

The Reflections of Motherhood video was born on Mother’s Day, over coffee with my besty Scott Stratten, President of UnMarketing.com. We were talking about Mother’s Day and all the things parents learn that they were never expecting after their children arrive.  As a mother of three, I’m asked a lot of questions by new moms and moms to be about what they can expect when their babies are born. Reflections of Motherhood is a collection of some of these pieces of wisdom, not only from myself, but from a community of parents and grandparents, some of whom are featured in the movie.

I would like to thank our brilliant and beautiful Moms
Annabel Fitzsimmons Candace Alper Sara Chi, Sarah Gunn Julie Cole Carley KnoblocEvelyn Hannon Amy Urquhart Kathleen Kazmierczak Elissa Freeman Megan Mooney Heather Greenwood Davis Amber MacArthur Maureen Turner Maureen Dennis and Grace Sanchez MacCall

And to the non-tweeters :) Karen Livingston, for keeping the photo shoot on track, for all your input, for being in the movie and for all the day to day stuff you have done to make Nummies better (and me more sane) these last months.

To my dear friend Nathalie Rethazy and my beautiful sister in law Dieuwke Thornton. Two amazing women who share this whole parenting life thing with me. Thanks to both of you for teaching me more about motherhood than you know.

Our amazing and lovely photographer Sara Collaton. Sara, you are so freaking talented! Thank you for capturing all of these women so perfectly.  I have a feeling I’ve caught Sara as amazing things are happening with her work, and I feel very lucky to be able to have her as our photographer.  Check out the rest of her stuff at www.saracollaton.com, its awesome.

To InAshton who gave us the perfect song for our video. Meeting you and seeing you perform was a highlight of my last trip to New York. Thanks for giving heart to the movie with Days Away. I am a big fan and I hope you all will check out the rest of their music. www.InAshton.com

And a last and special thank you to Scott, for making this whole thing possible. For all the smiles, faces, encouragement, advice, band names and t-shirts that have gone along with this amazing project. No one I would rather work with. Thanks Tim, lots more awesome to come. If you love this movie, you gotta check out Scott’s site and his brilliant new book.

So, what do you think?  Did you enjoy the movie? Learn something? Want to add more to what you saw?

We would love for you to share your comments below.

SO inspired by this video that I am going to try to make another with some of my local moms to pass down through our generations.  I have 24 women signed up to send me pics already.... and 37 maybe's.  Moms NEED other moms.  Thank you SOOO much.

Enjoy your babies since they will grow up and become teenagers and then adults. The more floor time you have with your children the better! I enjoyed your video as I remembered how young my kids were. It's definitely perfect to be imperfect and just be. Check out www.authenticallyu.org to learn how you can continue to grow.

I loved the video. Made me laugh and cry at the same time! I shared it on FB (which is how I found it in the first place!). I checked out your website - the nursing bras look beautiful, and the best part is they actually come in my size (34 DD/E is very hard to find at all, much less in a nursing bra!). And I'm glad to see they are available at a retailer not far from me. I will be checking those bras out for my next baby to be sure! Thanks!
  • Alison Kramer

I will sit up tonight and watch her breathe....unfort. I have two sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, feverish kids at home tonight! :(
  • Alison Kramer
:( hope they feel better soon and you can get some rest.
  • Michellehafer
Very Cool video - got a lil teary eyed. I do have to make mention that it was a little disappointing that ethnic mix was weighted heavily to the caucasion side - just saying.
  • Alison Kramer
Thank you for watching and for your comment. All the women in the video are there because they replied to our request for moms in the Toronto area via Facebook and Twitter. They were very giving with their time and we were happy to have all of them be a part of the project. We did not turn anyone away, these were the women who stepped forward.
  • Norys Trevino

I showed it to my daughter who had a beautiful son 3 months ago. She was so moved that she showed it to her high school students to get their comments and reflections. Thanks so much for the wonderful video...give us more :)
  • I wish I'd seen that before I became a dad.
  • Ginalee01
This is amazing!! Such a wonderful message of validation for all mothers?

I was surprised to see Dieuwke's radiant smile again. I went to high school with her... I hope she remembers me (I was the only asian girl in the school). Say hello for me!!
  • Alison Kramer

So a fave quote of mine from a recent bestseller is "Beauty attracts beauty." Well, apparently beauty also creates beauty. The loveliest thing I've seen in so long. Well, done, my amazing friend, well done. xo
